Speakers lining up for IAF Convention

This year’s IAF World Apparel Convention is returning to Hong Kong after a break of 13 years, and is keen to play up its role in connecting China with the fashion industry in the rest of the world.

“For those who desire to tap into the 1.3 billion strong Chinese consumer market, Hong Kong is the place where professional talent with China know-how can be recruited to build teams in design, sourcing, product development, technical support, marketing and retail to attract this massive market,” said Mr Michael Tien, chairman of G2000 Apparel Limited.

Mr Tien, who is delivering the keynote speech at the three-day event, added: “More importantly, China’s consumers' tastes have increasingly been influenced by their Hong Kong counterpart and brands, making this city an effective testing market for newcomers wishing to enter China.”

His presentation on “Is fast fashion killing fashion?” will kick off the IAF World Apparel Convention, which runs from October 5 to 7 at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Other cconfirmed speakers include: Mr Willy Lin, chairman of the Textile Council of Hong Kong Ltd; Mr Steve Jesseph, president and chief executive officer of WRAP; Mr Henry Tan, chief executive officer of Luen Thai; and Ms Carmel Giblin of Sedex.
